Nothing like being hauled into your boss’ office and grilled like shish kebab your first day back on numbers you went on holiday to forget. Alas! Not so lucky. So much for easing back into the grind, more like thrown right back into the pummelling machine.

Few things to me are as rejuvenating as a good read, and good English, which I managed to get in Bali, alternating between David Sedaris and November’s Vanity Fair. Mostly because finally I was doing something different than pouring over dance-related material (diversification- as a wise friend once proclaimed,

Too much <law> makes you stupid,

<  > being an interchangeable noun, I personally prefer ‘anything’.) Despite the real results being debatable, good literature makes one feel more intelligent, and consequently, more refreshed.

And then of course, the was the spa. And snoozing in the pavillion. But now, I would really like a day off to READ. Sri Lanka in January here I come. Hangin’ with buffalos and the like. And tea plantations for miles.

Just wolfed down a delifrance croissant in the airport lounge. Stark reminder of how I used to grab-and-go an exhorbitant pret sandwich at gatwick or stansted before taking easyjet/ryanair somewhere not-london. Looking fwd to concussing on the flight! I got greedy and also bought a chocolate croissant, which I will gleefully tuck into when I awake from my nap.

I could friggin’ eat a cow. Scratch that. I just want oodles of noodles and buckets of steamed rice and pasta that goes for miles.  The carb monster must be fed.

Two points:

1. Mushrooms will be a lifelong favourite thing of mine (food, word, appearance, fairytale associations, other uses.. hah!)

2. I am thinking of getting this print for my room. A little colour, but not too much. Perfect for my (planned) grey walls and hanging plants.

I am a bit too excited for this short jaunt, perhaps even more so than the bride herself – i just want to get away!

But realised much later, after making a huge mess and the onset of a sinus attack, that i don’t actually own it. What a prize idiot.

There are two things in life you should never stinge on – food, and books.

My mother told me this when I was 9. She has these platidudinal pearls that she drops once in a while, that never fail to baffle me with their succinct compact little truths. MPH here i come!

Meanwhile, at work, enjoying the simple pleasures of floating on a cloud named denial (my favourite!), mainly from massive paperwork and festival wrap-up whatnots. Real life begins next Tuesday, because I say so.
